Event details
Nationally, there was a 26% rise in patients referred to breast diagnostic clinics from 2010 to 2015, causing increased pressure on resources. This talk outlines OR modelling work to improve the route to diagnosis of breast conditions, in collaboration with a breast diagnostic clinic. A logistic regression scorecard was developed which uses GP referral information to predict abnormal breast diagnostic results. Current work involves incorporating the scorecard inside a discrete event simulation of the clinic, in order to measure the benefits of a scorecard-based triage system.
