The General Medical Council requires ‘tomorrow’s doctors’ to be scholars, as well as competent practitioners and professionals (GMC, 2009). Therefore, the ability engage with, appraise and contribute to clinical research remains a critical component of the undergraduate medical education, and beyond.
The NSAMR student committee has written several guides as an aid to medical students to help develop understanding and skills in clinical research. These guides are hoped to be used as a general introduction and to be of some practical help when encountering or conducting research.
The following guides are available and freely downloadable:-
How to conduct a clinical audit
How to design a good research study
How to give a good oral presentation
How to get involved with undergraduate research
How to guide to understanding statistics
How to make a scientific poster
