Partnerships: We are Connected

The Social Impact Lab has partners in the UK and in North America and Asia. Our programme is supported by our corporate partners; and we have worked with universities and the British Council to deliver joint courses and projects on three continents.

If you are interested in partnering with the Social Impact Lab, please contact us .

UK Partners

The Social Impact Lab is supported by our corporate partners, Waitrose and KPMG, with whom we work closely to design and deliver our programmes.

Waitrose also supports one of our student ventures – Biggest Tree – a social enterprise that aims to reduce the amount of surplus fruit and vegetables in supermarkets.

Indian Partners

In August 2016, the Social Impact Lab and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) ran Spark India – a unique social enterprise bootcamp and social leadership training programme. Eight Southampton undergraduate students spent three weeks in Mumbai, working with student social entrepreneurs at TISS, and supporting them to develop and launch new social ventures, providing a range of social and environmental services including waste management, rural education and skills training for low income women.

Spark India 2014, ran in partnership with II Ahmedabad, was a finalist in the 2015 Guardian Higher Education Awards entrepreneurship category.

Asian Partners

In April 2015, the Social Impact Lab was selected to consult on British Council Vietnam’s new initiative looking at social enterprise in Vietnamese universities. Dr Pathak travelled to Hanoi to advise on the design of an international conference for university leaders on integrating social enterprise into university curricular. The Social Impact Lab also hosted a five day study visit to the UK, where delegates were shown our successful work embedding social entrepreneurship into campus life.

In August 2015, the Social Impact Lab worked with OP Jindal Global University in India and Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan to run the first International Social Innovation Challenge (ISIC) – a ten day programme for students, exploring social entrepreneurship and the theme of ‘empowering women through safer communities’. 10 Southampton students travelled to Delhi to participate in the programme, which saw them work in international teams to develop community-centred social ventures which supported women in North India. As well as our university partners, ISIC was also supported by British Council India and UnLtd Delhi.

Canadian Partners

In January 2016, the Social Impact Lab partnered with Ryerson University and the University of Waterloo in Canada to deliver the Social xCHANGE – a two day conference and social enterprise competition for students from across the UK and Ontario. The Social Impact Lab co-designed and delivered the competition, running workshops and mentor sessions on the theme of urban resilience and community building.
