Miss Charlie Barton
Work Experience Manager and Leadership Advisor
Charlie joined the University in January 2014 after working in B2B sales for 3 years in the private sector.
Her first role at the University was building relationships with local and national employers to provide internships for University of Southampton students exclusively. During this role she and the team doubled the number of Excel Southampton Internships available to students and won the Vice Chancellor’s team award for quality. She then moved into the role of Work Experience Manager within the Careers & Employability Service responsible for the centrally coordinated internship, volunteering and business innovation programmes.
Charlie now works within student enterprise and entrepreneurship at the university delivering a central programme of activities and supporting the delivery of the Social Impact Lab. Charlie also represents Student Services as an elected member of Senate, the University's primary academic governance.
The Social Impact Lab is instrumental at supporting UoS students in being socially minded global leaders of the future. Having worked with SIL previously, it’s passion and mission have really resonated with me, hence why I continue to be involved in an advisory capacity.
