We offer range of outreach activities that are all about sharing our passion for science.
School of Chemistry Outreach Programme - Skills for Schools
The University of Southampton recognises the importance of engaging young people in chemistry and the physical sciences. Chemistry's schools outreach programme allows us to develop strong links with schools and colleges to support this aim. Many members of staff give up their own time to take part in our activities, and they share in the rewards of seeing young people becoming enthused about chemistry.

Our outreach programme aims to answer questions such as:
- What do Chemists do?
- How do Chemists help achieve Sustainability?
- Where do Chemists work?
- Why did we become Chemists?
- Why you should study Chemistry!
Key Stage 2
Activities provided for Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 5 & 6) are aimed at encouraging a passion for science from an early age.
Key Stage 3 & 4
Activities for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils (Years 8 - 10) are to inspire them to engage with science.
Key Stage 5
We arrange Visit Days for potential students to experience what is involved in taking chemistry at degree level.
