Emeritus Professor
Iain Cameron is Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton.
After graduating in Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, he underwent postgraduate clinical and research training in obstetrics and gynaecology, and reproductive medicine, in Edinburgh, Melbourne and Cambridge.
He held the Regius Chair of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Glasgow from 1993 and moved to Southampton in 1999. His main clinical and research interests are reproductive endocrinology and investigation of the impact of the maternal environment on early pregnancy. Iain became Head of the School of Medicine in January 2004 and was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in August 2010.
He has been a non-executive Director of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust Board from 2011-2017, and was Chair of Medical Schools Council from 2013-2016.
He completed his second term of office as Dean of Medicine in 2018 and is now pursuing a non-executive career in the health and charity sectors.
