Mrs Sue Smith

Interdisciplinary Research Coordinator

Mrs Sue Smith is Interdisciplinary Research Coordinator within the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) at the University of Southampton.

Sue has worked at the University for over 30 years and has gained a wealth of University-wide knowledge and, in particular relating to the maritime sector through the student education experience and collaboration with the academic community and external stakeholders.

Sue joined Research and Innovation Services in 2011 at the inception of SMMI with proven strengths in project management, academic liaison, communications and event management.  She is responsible for providing specialist support to the Director and team to coordinate collaborative interdisciplinary activities across faculties, with industrial partners, both nationally and internationally, and with government, to drive forward the SMMI initiative to enhance global distinctiveness, creating additionality and engagement with the business community.
