Dr Tri-Dung Nguyen is an Associate Professor and EPSRC Fellow within Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

2009 – 2010, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign: Visiting Research Assistant Professor (School of Civil & Environmental Engineering)

Dr. Nguyen has also worked for several financial firms (Credit Suisse, Fidelity), IT firm (Fujitsu-Siemens), and logistics/research institutes (PSA, ATCRC).

Research interests

Research Interests

Dr. Nguyen is interested in applying Operations Research to a wide range of applications that include:

  • robust statistical analysis (robust regression & robust estimation)
  • portfolio optimization
  • Large-scale complex systems modelling & computation
  • Transportation
  • Competitive pricing

Research projects

  • 2010 - ,  KTP/RNLI/Southampton, Optimizing the operation and maintenance schedule of lifeboat operation at RNLI.
  • 2009 - , NSF/UIUC, Large-scale complex systems modelling and optimization for biofuel development.
  • 2003 - 2004, SPA/SMA, Optimal Berth and Ship scheduling.
