Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Scholars Camilla Moore, Jin Lim and staff members Fraser Sturt and Helen Farr represented the SMMI at this year’s annual Leverhulme Trust lecture in London. The talk was given by Dame Minouche Shafik, director of the LSE, on the topic of ‘Why Are We So Miserable When Things are Getting Better?’ .

The talk was highly engaging and thought provoking, forcing the audience to consider the changing nature of society and the challenges this poses to us all.  This strikes a chord with the aim of the Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Scholarship programme, where the focus is on cutting edge interdisciplinary research to address key issues across the breadth of society.
