SMMI and Lloyd’s Register’s Andrew MacDonald hosted a delegation from The Maritime Alliance (TMA), a non-profit industry association for the largest BlueTech cluster in the United States, for a morning of knowledge exchange and tour of our Aerial and Maritime Robotics facilities. The delegates represented blue tech companies Earthwise Sorbents, Sea Machines, SeaRobotics, SeaTrac, WAM-V, SubSeaSail, Apium, the US Department of Commerce and the President and founder of The Maritime Alliance, Michael Jones and Project Coordinator Shara Narsipur. The blue tech companies spanned interests from long endurance surface and underwater vehicles, swarm robotics software and super absorbent materials for ocean clean up made from recycled plastic waste – reflecting many of the interests and expertise of University of Southampton researchers.
