SMMI member, Dr Matt Loxham was delighted to be awarded a prize for the best “Research in 3” talk at the Academy of Medical Sciences Winter Science meeting that took place in London on 31 October.  Speakers had 3 minutes to present the key impacts of their work and were only allowed one powerpoint slide.  Matt’s talk focussed on the highlights of his ship emissions work, showing the most significant results and explaining how his research will be of benefit to patients.

The Winter Science Meeting is a great opportunity for the award holders to showcase their research, network with each other, Academy Fellows and research funders, and explore the next steps in their research careers. It is an annual one-day conference, in which delegates can take part in poster and oral presentation sessions, with prizes up for grabs.

The keynote speech was given by Professor Dame Sally Davies DBE FRS FMedSci and the event was Chaired by Professor Rosalind Smyth CBE FMedSci, Director at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, University College London.
