Institute of Maritime Law Research Seminar

This programme was designed for students studying maritime law options at postgraduate level. However, undergraduate students and members of the public are welcome to attend the lectures on request.  Please contact the Institute Secretary.

Speaker information

Paul Sadler, International Association of Classification Societies. Since 2007, Paul Sadler has been the Accredited Observer at the IMO for the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. His professional career started in the UK shipbuilding industry then in the cargo access equipment sector. Prior to joining IACS he worked for the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency for 17 years – initially as a flag and ports state surveyor; then in the Agency’s International Liaison Branch where he became the United Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the IMO and then the head of policy for ship safety standards.
