These seminars illustrate the breadth of coastal studies at the University of Southampton

Traditionally, this seminar series is held at Highfield, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment and will aim to showcase areas of research within the coastal research theme at Ocean and Earth Science.

These seminars are intended for both students and staff, and recent graduates.

Speaker Information

Katie Hey - HR Wallingford

Katie joined Atkins in December 2013 as a Project Manager. Prior to this she worked as a Coastal Engineer and Project Manager at HR Wallingford for just over 5 years. She is a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of delivery in a project management role.

Katie is technically minded, well-organised and has the ability to stay calm and focused in all situations. She is able to convert a wide range of customer requirements into accurate specifications and follow them through to successful delivery.

In her previous project management experience, Katie has shown herself to be a good leader with the necessary enthusiasm to drive and motivate her team. Whilst Katie is a technical specialist in her field, she often has to manage multi-disciplinary projects which require her to work with a range of people including engineers, mathematicians and scientists. She is also a flexible, team player who is able to come up with innovative solutions to a range of complex problems.

Katie is an excellent communicator who has worked hard to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients. She has shown her communications and knowledge sharing expertise through briefings to colleagues and clients as well as presenting at a number of international conferences. She has also had multiple articles published in technical journals.

Katie has also been involved in business development for the coasts market and has developed her ability to recognise and respond to commercial and research opportunities.
