Speaker information

James Paddock, URS Corporation. A brief overview of URS as an international company, the various divisions in which it operates, and in particular the maritime developments. The typical maritime services URS are involved range from initial site selection, to the modelling techniques used in establishing the hydrodynamics and sediment transport, through to the final phases of a project such as impact assessment and construction supervision. The majority of the presentation will focus on some of the more interesting maritime projects URS has been involved, looking at 5 main areas: Container Terminals, Oil and Gas, Bulk Material Facilities, Waterfront Development and Offshore Renewables. Moreover, attention will be given to the structures involved in protecting such facilities against some of the harsh environmental conditions at the often exposed sites.
