Matt Wearmouth & Shirin Costa: “Southampton to Mott MacDonald: the coastal journey and our experience”

These seminars illustrate the breadth of coastal studies at the University of Southampton. Traditionally, this seminar series is held at Highfield, hosted by the faculty of Engineering and the Environment and will aim to showcase areas of research within the coastal research theme at Ocean and Earth Science.

Speaker information

Matt Wearmouth & Shirin Costa, Mott MacDonald. Matt Wearmouth (2012 graduate) and Shirin Costa (2013 graduate) share their experience since leaving Southampton University for a career in coastal engineering and science at Mott MacDonald (MM). Matt has supported senior coastal engineers and project managers on projects such as a subsea cable route feasibility study in Wales and a coastal defence scheme in Inverness. Shirin will discuss her role as a numerical modeller at MM including her involvement on the Clacton Detail Design scheme. Both will answer questions and can discuss potential dissertation topics, summer placement roles and job opportunities available at MM in 2014.
