This is a collaborative maritime research project between the departments of archaeology at the University of Stockholm and the University of Southampton.

Krogen Project

Survey work is being carried out above water and below, encompassing shipwrecks, medieval navigation routes, harbours, anchorages and associated features in the hinterland. The focus of work in the initial phase has been the wreck of an English brig believed to be the Severn which sank in the early 19th century. Its sheltered location and relatively shallow depth make it an ideal training site, while giving students the opportunity to acquire skills in recording three dimensional structures underwater as well as contributing to ongoing research.
