Hi, I'm Jon Howe and I studied BSc Applied Social Sciences (Anthropology) within Social Sciences: Sociology, Social Policy & Criminology at the University of Southampton.

From studying at Southampton, I have learnt so much in regards to my course subjects and work skill.

Q: Why did you choose to undertake your studies at the University of Southampton?

I chose to study at Southampton because of the excellent facilities it offered on campus, which itself had a very relaxed atmosphere. Together with the wide range of social clubs available, there was enough to cater for all interests.

Q: What did you enjoy about studying at Southampton?

A main advantage of studying at Southampton was the wide variety of modules available to study and having the freedom to choose certain modules of interest. This meant you could tailor your degree to suit your own interests. Both lecturers, tutors and library staff were also always willing to offer assistance, which helped enormously throughout. The one thing that made my degree special was that the subjects in my degree were of great interest because they provided insights into the human condition that are applicable beyond university study. This made reading around them an enjoyable experience.

Q: What have you been able to achieve as a result of studying at the University of Southampton?

From studying at Southampton, I have learnt so much in regards to my course subjects and work skills, which I hope will help me in my future career, but also in terms of personal and social skills which I can take forward with me.
