Hi, I'm Rebecca Nash and I studied BSc Sociology within Social Sciences: Sociology, Social Policy & Criminology at the University of Southampton.

The campus itself is lovely and I felt that the University had a positive feel to it.

I chose to study at the University of Southampton because not only does the University have a fantastic reputation but also because the general atmosphere on the campus was very endearing! The campus itself is lovely and overall I felt that the University had a positive feel to it. This was at odds with some of the other universities I had visited.

My passion for Sociology developed when I took the subject at A level. The subject is broad and covers such a myriad of issues; it constantly interests me, which is the main reason I chose to study it at degree level. My particular interests lie in education, gender and also some aspects of Anthropology – something I have been able to delve into while studying at Southampton.

Student life in Southampton is enjoyable. The city itself is quite diverse, and there is an abundance of places to go for day visits, nights out etc. The city is reasonably priced and, I find, very student-friendly.

I now intend to continue my studies at Southampton and I was recently awarded a 1 + 3 scholarship to study Web Science, alongside students from many other disciplines. I chose to stay at Southampton because I feel it offers brilliant opportunities for further study.
