The book describes the enormous improvements which have occurred in terms of health and nutritional status in Europe and North America during the last three centuries and provides a wide ranging account of their causes and consequences.

The book has already received considerable attention in newspapers and radio broadcasts and has been described as a ‘breathtaking … description of the remarkable changes in human constitutions in the western world over the last three hundred years’.
