Sociology Professors on Guardian live chat 23 October

Academics from Sociology will take part in the Guardian's live Q&A on changing the role of volunteers and paid staff

Head of Sociology, Professor Susan Halford and Professor Pauline Leonard, both Co-Directors of the Work Futures Research Centre will particpate in the debate which will explore paid and unpaid roles in the voluntary sector and the tensions between them. It will look at:

  • The roles that paid staff and volunteers play
  • The emphasis placed on voluntary activity
  • Changes to job roles
