Our Criminology programmes are top 10 in the 2021 Times Good University Guide. Criminology at the University of Southampton ranks 9th in the UK and 5th in the Russell Group.

Professor Dr Craig Webber, Head of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology, commented:

”Criminology has been taught at the University of Southampton for over 25 years. As interest in our degrees has grown, we have expanded our team and consistently updated our module offerings. Our BSc Criminology and Psychology joint honours is the first and only degree at a Russell Group University that provides students with accreditation from the British Psychology Society. All of our degrees provide exciting, contemporary and research-led modules that provides the framework for highly employable graduates.“

The Times Good University Guide uses five categories covering Teaching, Research, Citations (research influence), Industry Income and International Outlook to rank universities. Our criminology programme received a particularly strong research quality score of 52.8%, ranking 2nd in the UK, reflecting the quality of research undertaken.
