Yazhen Yang currently works as an ESRC SCDTP (South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership) funded Research Fellow at the Department of Gerontology, University of Southampton. The project I am working on is: Intergenerational Support Exchange within Chinese, British and European Families. I also convene Module GERO6010: Perspectives in Gerontology (DL).

I joined the Department of Gerontology in 2019 as a Teaching Fellow, teaching and co-convening the Quantitative Research Methods (DL) module and other modules, eg. Ageing, Health and Well-Being (DL).

I have a BSc in Public Administration (Particularly in Human Resources), an MSc in Gerontology from the University of Southampton, an Mphil in Social Protection from Xiamen University, and a PhD in Gerontology from the University of Southampton. The title of my PhD project was Intergenerational Relations: The Changing Pattern of Economic, Social and Psychological Transfers within Chinese Families (analysing the Chinese Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey using Stata).
