Professor Zoë Matthews is Professor of Global Health and Social Statistics within Social Statistics and Demography at the University of Southampton.

In my career I have had the good fortune to work with brilliant students, outstanding academics and inspired international experts- I continue to be amazed at what I learn!

  • Overmedicalisation, iatrogenesis and financial exploitation in reproductive healthcare
  • Demographic and statistical methods and techniques, and spatial analysis
  • Effects of climate change and other environmental change on poverty and wellbeing and links with renewable energy.
PhD supervision

As I am seconded to Evidence for Action I am currently not supervising PhD students. I have previously supervised 13 PhD students to successful conclusion.
