Grant to aid brand drugs study

Dr Carmine Ornaghi has been awarded a grant for £7,000 to research the effects of generic entry in the pharmaceutical industry.

His research expertise is applied econometrics and empirical industrial organisation and he has done extensive research on estimating the effects of R&D and innovation on productivity change using firm level data.

More recently, most of his research has been focused on the pharmaceutical industry. In particular, Dr Ornaghi has been studying the effects of advertising on competition between brand drugs as well as the effects of generic entry on the competitive strategies of brand drugs.
