Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships: Call for Expressions of Interest

Published: 7 March 2016

Social Sciences at the University of Southampton is recognised for conducting world-class theoretical, methodological and empirical research. We are keen to build on our strengths and international interests by supporting high quality applications to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships scheme.

The Marie Curie scheme offers the opportunity for the best and most promising post-doctoral researchers to come to the UK to work with a supervisor for between 12-24 months. The grant provides an allowance to cover your living, travel and family costs in line with Marie Curie scheme rates. For more information about the Fellowships please visit the European Commission website

Social Sciences has a vibrant and supportive interdisciplinary research culture, with much of our research carried out in our specialist research centres. We work collaboratively with a range of EU and other international partner organisations. For more information on Social Sciences Research at the University of Southampton please see our research pages

We invite expressions of interest from postdoctoral scholars (up to 5 years from doctorate) with outstanding potential to work with us on cutting edge research projects that will make an original and significant contribution in their field. While research proposals in any area are welcome, we are particularly interested in the applications in the following interdisciplinary areas:

  • Gender equality at work
  • Gender and health
  • Migration
  • Population change
  • Environmental change
  • Organisational boundaries and security
  • Big data and research methods

Expressions of Interest should be sent to fshs-rso@soton.ac.uk by 15.00(GMT) on Friday 20 May 2016. Please provide:

  • A covering email
  • A 5-page CV (following the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship ‘Guide for Applicants’ format)
  • A 2-page outline of your proposed research project

Expressions of interest will be assessed by members of the Social Sciences Academic Unit Research Management Group, and the most promising applicant/s will be provided with further guidance and support to enhance their submission for a full Marie Curie Fellowship application with Social Sciences at the University of Southampton serving as the host institution. Decisions will be communicated by Tuesday 7 June 2016.
