The Department of Gerontology is seeking to appoint a Lectureship in Gerontology (Level 4 or 5). You will have experience in teaching quantitative research methods and one or more of the following fields: health, health policy, or long-term care. Expertise in advanced quantitative research methods (eg longitudinal analysis, event history analysis) would be an advantage. You will contribute to postgraduate teaching programmes, enhance the research profile of the Centre for Research on Ageing and the Department, and bring a proven record of research and publication.

You will work in the Department of Gerontology, situated in Social Sciences within the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. The Faculty brings together a unique range of disciplines and is committed to tackling the world’s biggest challenges through interdisciplinary research.
Gerontology staff members were returned with Social Sciences staff under the 2014 REF Social Policy (UoA22), which was ranked fifth in the UK on research power and our research environment was rated 100% world leading.
You will be expected to teach on the MSc in Gerontology and MSc Global Ageing and Policy, co-supervise MSc students and, where appropriate, supervise PhD students. You will also engage in high quality research and publication and have opportunities to collaborate in existing major research council funded programmes within the Centre for Research on Ageing, where appropriate.
You will have a Degree and PhD in Gerontology or in one of the Social Sciences or in a discipline closely related to the study of ageing and the lifecourse (eg. Social Policy, Demography, Sociology, Health, Social Care, Economics, Psychology, Social Statistics, Geography) and have relevant teaching and research experience. A commitment to working across traditional disciplinary boundaries, both in research and teaching is valued. We would expect the successful applicants to have a background in ageing and the ability to strengthen existing expertise in this area and contribute to the teaching of students in receipt of Commonwealth Scholarships.
