Event details

A comparison between the political interests of 16-18 years olds taking either VET or academic tracks in France, Germany, Denmark and England

Experiences of Education ideally should not increase the inequalities of future democratic engagement (interest in politics, future voting or protest). We might even wish that it could reduce them. However, this paper will present findings from across Europe that indicate an association between taking VET courses and lower democratic outcomes. Country differences and possible explanations will be explored.

Research from the ESRC LLAKES centre, Inequalities project.
