A Centre for Population Change Seminar

Abstract: Agent-based models have become an ubiquitous tool in many disciplines. But too little is known about their statistical properties. This talk reviews the history and scope of application for agent-based models, and then describes work that has been done to begin to understand their statistical properties. In particular, the talk describes emulator theory and approximate Bayesian computation as methods for improving model fitting and inference.
