Ms Bernice Kuang is Postgraduate Researcher within Social Statistics & Demography at the University of Southampton.

I am a postgraduate researcher at the Department of Social Statistics and Demography within the Faculty of Social Sciences.

I have always been interested in women’s health and family planning and began my career doing research and data analytics for Planned Parenthood. Following this, I earned a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University with an emphasis on Demographic Methods. At Hopkins, I worked as a research assistant for the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute of Population and Reproductive Health and developed an interest for other demographic subject areas, including migration and fertility. My masters dissertation investigated occupational health and illness of internal migrants in China.

I then worked at Futures Group on the USAID funded Health Policy Project, providing research and demographic technical support to its population and reproductive health portfolios in Sub Saharan Africa, Latin America and South Asia. I returned to graduate school to further develop my research skills and gain expertise in demographic methods and population issues in the developing and middle income world.
