Postgraduate study- Social Statistics and Demography

For some students their undergraduate degree is only the start of their higher education experience. After graduating at the end of your third year you may decide to go on to postgraduate study.

If you choose to study at Southampton, you’ll work with internationally respected academics and experience world-leading research as it happens.

Since the Division of Social Statistics was founded in 1975, we have been at the forefront of international research on methodology for the design and analysis of sample surveys. Today, we are a leading international centre for research in social statistics

Taught degrees

At the postgraduate instructional level, the Division is responsible for the MSc Demography, MSc Social Statistics (Research Methods pathway), MSc Social Statistics (Statistics pathway) and MSc Official Statistics. Statisticians in the University collaborate closely over postgraduate teaching. A number of modules are taught jointly for students on the MSc Social Statistics and the MSc Statistics with Applications in Medicine (run by Mathematics).
