BBSRC Excellence with Impact Awards 2011

The Southampton Neurosciences Group (SoNG) is one of twenty UK university departments to have been selected as candidates for this prestigious award. This award acknowledges departments that are most active in embedding a culture that recognises the importance of economic and social impact alongside excellent research.

Prizes will be awarded to:

  • The department that has been most effective in introducing a significant culture change, which values impact as well as research excellence
  • The department that best demonstrates the delivery of economic and social impact over the period

The competition is running from 1 December 2008 to 1 December 2010 with selected departments being monitored over this period. Professor Lindy Holden-Dye of the School of Biological Sciences will be leading the bid for this Award. Prizes will be awarded at a prestigious gala awards dinner in central London in March 2011, with national publicity for the winning departments.
