Improving the Impact of Psychological Treatments (Psy-IMPACT) Programme

Published: 6 May 2014

Over £1million available in 2014 Psy-IMPACT Funding Three funding streams focused on the goal to stimulate innovation and advances in the field of psychological treatments

FUNDING STREAM ONE

PRELIMINARY STUDIES OF NEW TREATMENTS

MQ is inviting applications for support to conduct preliminary or proof of concept studies of new treatments. Preference will be given to theory-driven studies of promising psychological interventions that have a robust scientific underpinning based on psychological, biological, or social mechanisms, or combinations thereof. One or two awards of up to £500,000 will be made.

FUNDING STREAM TWO

eTHERAPY

MQ is keen to fund systematic studies of existing online/app-based interventions that employ public health research strategies to understand how the use of eTherapy interventions might be expanded.  Such "direct-to-consumer" studies should ideally conform to the standards used to evaluate face-to-face treatments and report details of recruitment, user engagement and adherence, treatment response and maintenance of effects. One or two awards of up to £500,000 will be made.

FUNDING STREAM THREE

MEDIATORS AND MODERATORS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENT EFFECTS

MQ is seeking proposals designed to identify the mediators and moderators of psychological treatment effects.  It is expected that the research will make use of one or more existing high-quality data sets that are suited for this purpose.  A detailed plan for the analysis of the data will be required.  Awards of up to £100,000 will be made.

Letters of Intent due Thursday, 12 June 2014

Full project proposals due Thursday, 24 July 2014

MQ will award funding based on scientific merit and potential patient benefit.  For more detailed information about this funding call, please visit our website at www.JoinMQ.org.  Please click here to download the Funding Announcement as a PDF.
