SoNG umbrella wins £100,000 grant

Published: 4 February 2015

Delphine Boche (FoM) has led a successful bid under the SoNG umbrella.

The £100,00 grant provided by the charity Alzheimer’s Research UK was drawn from colleagues across the University including the Faculty of Medicine and the Centre for Biological Science. This grant will support the purchase of a high-throughput and high resolution digital slide scanner to be housed in the Biomedical Imaging Unit at Southampton General Hospital. This will provide colleagues with a new platform to investigate the process of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease tissue. This is an excellent addition to the University’s capability that will allow us to continue to contribute to understanding and treating this disease of huge societal concern.
