This is an update on some SEC events, as well as other ethics-related seminars and workshops taking place at the University in the coming months.

The SEC Seminar Series, which showcases work by colleagues at the University, continues this semester …

1st November

Chris Armstrong (Politics)

Justice and the Burdens of Conservation

13th December

A. M. Viens (Law)

Is There a Right to Bodily Integrity?

Both will take place at 5-7 pm in Room 2117 in Building 65 at the Avenue Campus.

We're also pleased to confirm that this year’s Ethical Challenges lecture will be given by Jenny Saul (Sheffield) on 13th February.

This is one of a series of SEC-sponsored events beginning in the new year, including workshops devoted to ethical issues around breast feeding (January), Kant and contemporary metaethics (April), and the work of John Stuart Mill (May), as well as the first of an annual series of conferences devoted to normativity run by the Philosophy Department in partnership with the Humboldt University, Berlin (June). Further details of all of these in due course.

But there are many other fascinating ethics-related events taking place at the University in the coming days and weeks, including - to pick out just one - HEAL’s annual Montgomery Lecture in Health, Ethics and Law, which will be given by Professor Marie Fox (Liverpool) on 'Framing a New Interspecies Ethics' (Wednesday October 26th, 6pm in the Nuffield Theatre). For further details of this and of other events - including C2G2, Parkes Centre and Philosophy Dept seminars - please see

Please see the events and seminars pages for further details of upcoming talks.
