Event details

Part of the Ethical Challenges lecture series.

Human life in the 21st century continues to generate new and challenging ethical questions. It does so despite - indeed partly because of - advances in scientific knowledge. This lecture is the first in a new series of public lectures addressing ethical challenges that 21st century humanity faces. Professor Broome will discuss the public and private morality of climate change.

John Broome is White's Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford. He is the author of several influential books and many papers on a wide-range of topics in moral philosophy. He has also contributed to the work of the Stern Review of the Economics of Climate Change, and written papers for the World Health Organisation.

The lecture is organised by Philosophy at Southampton in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Philosophy.

All welcome.
