Event details

"We usually associate democracy and societal self-determination with voting, political parties or, more recently, with expressing our will in the form of a referendum. However, the digital transformation of modern societies offers the opportunity to reconsider this understanding and draw a broader picture of democratic action. A possible starting-point for such an endeavour is the evolution of the Internet and its drivers. Does the course of digitalisation follow its own logic or are societies shaping this process? In this talk, I will use ideas from the area of sociology of technology to explore this question." The event is followed by a drinks reception in the coffee lounge on Level 3. All are welcome but please register using the 'Book Now' button.
