Event details

The workshop brings together UK-based scholars working on various aspects of the work of John Stuart Mill.

Amongst the themes addressed will be:

What can contemporary ethicists learn from a careful reading of Mill?

How well-suited are the central tenets of Mill’s political philosophy to addressing contemporary political issues?

How central to Mill’s moral and political philosophy are sentiments such as blame and guilt?

With a major new companion to Mill (edited by Christopher Macleod and Dale Miller) just published by Blackwell, this is an ideal time for a re-examination of Mill’s moral and political philosophy.
