FREE Mayflower Fitness Classes

Here at Sport & Wellbeing at Mayflower Gym we would like to offer out up to 100 class passes* in order to let the public trial our extensive fitness classes that are located and delivered in the heart of the City Centre.
Our class timetable at Mayflower Gym has been designed to fit around your working week, with classes running every weekday lunchtime:

Each class has been tailored made and we ensure that all classes are available for all abilities. We highly encourage those that study, work and live nearby to take advantage of these class passes that are currently on offer. We hope that in turn you enjoy our extensive range of classes and look to sign-up to our City Centre facility.

You can also find evening classes of Express HIIT on Monday and Wednesday.

If you are interested in taking advantage of our FREE CLASS PASSES, please email sportandwellbeing@southampton.ac.uk with an email with the subject: Free Class Pass Mayflower, we can then arrange for you to collect your pass upon arrival at Mayflower Gym).

If you are near to Highfield Campus please also take advantage of a FREE Relax and Meditate class we have scheduled for on the 1st November at 2.45pm-3.15pm, this will need to be booked via sportandwellbeing@southampton.ac.uk (email subject: Relax and Med).

Find out what each class entails & please do not forget that all classes are for all abilities:

HIIT

(High-intensity interval training) 30 minutes high-intensity workout uses all your body with mainly cardio and bodyweight exercise, intense workout used to burn fat in a short amount of time.

Core
Targeting your core muscles, helping to tone your abs, legs, and bum. A 30-minute class for all abilities and a variety of exercises that can be adapted for all.
This will help stabilize the body, strengthening the muscles to support your spine and posture.

Yoga
A mind and full-body workout which helps to strengthen your body while helping to relax your mind. A combination of strengthening and stretching poses that incorporates deep breathing, meditation, and relaxation.

Strong by Zumba
This is a non-dance type class, similar to a HIIT or Insanity class. This incorporates music, small amounts of choreography with the addition of a boot camp style class. This is not dancing to music but exercise and interval training with music and choreography, this class also includes lots of movement as well as mobility work and dynamic stretching.

Zumba
This is a Latin infused dance class, a combination of dance and choreography which targets your cardiovascular fitness.

Pilates
Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance, and flexibility. In Pilates, the chance of injury is much lower than with other more strenuous forms of exercise. This class will help with mobility, improve back problems and ease any stiffness.
