10/07 - Plans For Reopening

Following the latest government guidelines that were updated on the 9th of July, regarding the greenlight for the reopening of recreational sport and indoor sporting activities, we understand that many customers may be anticipating that we reopen as of the 25th of July; as such, we would like to take the time to update you on our current position at Sport and Wellbeing and to advise our customers that this is not likely to be the case.

 

Our team, and the wider University of Southampton, continue to work behind the scenes to ensure our campus and the facilities within become the safest environment that we can possibly achieve for the community.

 

This does mean that we are currently working towards a proposed opening date of the 7th of September for our indoor facilities. As you may already be aware, we have been offering such sports as tennis, netball, and basketball for a number of weeks from our outdoor Wide Lane Sports Ground facility and Avenue Campus location. As the days and weeks go by, we will continue to assess further recreational sport offerings and be sure to update all our customers via our social media as the range of available activities steadily increases.

 

For those monthly members that have frozen their membership, this agreement will continue until we confirm our reopening date. No payments will be taken until that point.

 

For those annual and pre-paid memberships, we are currently working with the University finance team to refund you your membership from the date of our closure up until your expiry date. We greatly appreciate your continued patience. We are hoping to now begin to action refunds prior to our full facility reopening. You will be emailed as we acquire further information.

 

As we look to reopen, we will be offering a number of discounted products and services. This will include reduced monthly membership fees and reduced pay as you go fees. We will also ensure that all customers are up to speed with the safety procedures we have in place to protect you and our staff.

 

Although it may be a little longer than we anticipated, we look forward to seeing you at one of our facilities soon.
