Summer Kids' Camp Cancellation

The University of Southampton have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the summer season of Children’s Activity Camps 2020. This is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, for which Sport and Wellbeing do not feel that we are yet appropriately equipped for hosting attendees in a safe and practical manner. We recognise that many of our customers may have been relying on the availability of the activity camps, and so we offer our sincerest apologies for any disappointment that may have been caused as a result of this cancellation.

We have included the direct link to Southampton City Council, and hope this supports you in finding alternative arrangements.

We are happy to share that we are currently planning an alternative arrangement by moving the activity camps into a virtual space. Although this will not facilitate childcare, we hope that it will enable your children to stay engaged with us throughout the summer period. Our intention is that children may partake in the safety and comfort of their own home via the Google Classroom platform, where we plan to deliver up to 3 activities each week for your children to get involved in.

Activities will include, but are not limited to: active challenges, arts and crafts, and cookery creations that they can get involved in with the supervision of a grown-up.

Further information regarding our virtual offering will be emailed out on the 17th July 2020. For now, as Google Classroom requires a Gmail account, it may be useful if any interested parties could look to create one, or double check that your account functions with Google.
