Dear Followers and Customers, Please find below a range of news from the team here at Sport and Wellbeing. This is the third of four Sport and Wellbeing newsletters to be released throughout the month of August. Be sure to check back next week for further updates

Pool One-Way System

As the first part of our efforts to maintain COVID-19 compliance, we will be introducing a number of changes to the manner in which you can use the facilities, keeping safety practicality at the forefront of our minds. We will start off by introducing what we have called “The Swimmer’s Journey”, put together by our diligent staff. Please keep in mind that this is all a work in progress and is still subject to change upon further reviewing.

Access to the Swimming Pool will be via booking only. Swimmers will be invited to book online through our website. Slots begin on the hour and run for 45 minutes inclusive of changing time. We encourage swimmers to arrive “beach ready”, with your swim kit on prior to your arrival. Please note that there will be no lockers available, so we ask you to refrain from bringing valuable items.

On your path to the pool, we will be introducing a one-way system that will endeavour to minimise contact between swimmers. You will enter through reception as normal, scan your way through the turnstiles, and enter through the Changing Village. Once your session is concluded, you may return to collect your belongings, get changed, and then leave the building via the fire exit next to the deep end of the pool. Swimmers must vacate the facilities to enable us to clean prior to the next booked session.

We will be uploading a fully comprehensive and more detailed document containing this information and more shortly. Further COVID-19 compliance plans will be publicised in due course. We hope that this provides a promising and informative introduction to the work that our staff have been doing during our closure period. We look forward to seeing you.

Trace & Track QR Code

In line with our COVID-19 compliance measures, we will be able to track and trace all users who enter the facilities through the details provided on their Sport and Wellbeing account when they swipe through the turnstiles or speak to a member of staff on reception. However, if a customer were to visit a space without turnstiles, such as the Wide Lane Sports Ground, then we will be rolling out a Track and Trace QR Code. Customers are kindly invited to scan this QR code with their camera app before using the facilities, where they will be directed to an online form to fill in.

Virtual Tours

For students arriving into Southampton, for prospective customers who have not yet had a chance to sample our facilities, and for those who may simply have missed us during the closure period, we have created a range of virtual tours available on YouTube. Hosted by our assistant manager, James, watch as you’re walked through many of the sites open to customers with a brief explanation and history of each area.

New Pricing Schemes #KeepingItSimple

We would like to take the opportunity to offer a reminder that our membership rates will be changing as of Monday the 7th of September. For students this will offer the most significant change as we replace our usual annual fees with a monthly subscription and reduce the price of the Sports Pass to £0.
