Sport and Wellbeing’s management are excited to share that the decision has been made that any unallocated funds accrued throughout the end of the previous financial year will be redistributed into improving the student experience through the Student Union’s Athletic Union (AU) clubs.

Impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, many Athletic Union clubs have suffered a drastic slash in funding which severely hampers the ability for students to receive quality training, purchase crucial equipment, and to participate in sporting events.

The Student Union’s VP of Sport, Sam Tweedle, has created a campaign that endeavours to support our Athletic Union clubs throughout this tumultuous period.  Sam’s campaign aims to help Athletic Union clubs by raising money through donations, which will then be redistributed throughout the clubs. You can find the link for this campaign here.

Sport and Wellbeing recognise the irreplaceable importance of Athletic Union clubs in the lifestyle of the University of Southampton’s students. Athletic Union club activity represents not only a crucial means of support for both physical and mental health through regular and competitive exercise, but also a necessary means of socialising throughout the academic year.

It is for these reasons and many like them that we feel it vital to offer our support to the Athletic Union where we can.
