Please find below a list of updates for our March 2021 newsletter.

Reopening #KeepingItSimple

With the recent announcement from the Prime Minister on the 22nd of February 2021, we look forward to welcoming you all back as soon as possible. PAYG Tennis at Wide Lane Sports Ground will open as of the 29th of March, with bookings beginning to be taken from the 22nd of March. You can book these via phone or on our UoS Sport app, with a cost of £4.50 per booking for all. Wide Lane will also be open for AU booking sessions from the 29th March.

Our regular Gym and Swim sessions will be available from the 12th of April. You can book these sessions from the 5th of April as before, via the app, phone, or by emailing our customer service team.

We aim to see the return of group indoor sport on the 17th of May.

Please note that all of the above is subject to change in line with the government lockdown easing roadmap. We will update you all as soon as we know if any plans will change.

Memberships and new monthly membership payment system

All previous monthly memberships will resume on the 12th of April with a pro-rata charge for the remainder of the month. Before we reopen, we will have moved to a new monthly membership payment system. Please look forward to us getting in touch shortly with details on how our new system will benefit you, with a few steps that all current members will need to take.

 

To keep you busy until we reopen, here are some of our virtual offerings.

University Mental Health Day

Sport and Wellbeing will be offering a Lifestyle Choices Workshop. The workshop will include drop in sessions advice, Q&A, Meditation, Movement, and Yoga. The workshop will be free of charge. Join us from 10AM-1PM on the 4th of March, delivered via Microsoft Teams. To reserve your space and for further information email our team via sportandwellbeing@southampton.ac.uk

Not sure you can commit to two hours? Be Active are also offering a dedicated Meditation session at 3PM also delivered via Teams, this session will last approximately 45 minutes and is available to UoS students only. Book here.

Fitness classes via Facebook Live

Free virtual fitness classes online for all abilities. They are LIVE on Facebook Monday – Friday at 12PM and 5PM, with an additional class on Saturday at 9:30AM. If you can’t be there for the live session, feel free to catch them on YouTube after the class has ended to try them out at your leisure.

Be Active

Our Be Active sessions, available to UoS students, are being run from Microsoft Teams. There are three active sessions from table tennis to surfing and more, and a scavenger hunt on Sundays. The best part is that Be Active is free to join, with the only requirement being to book here in advance. More information can be found on our Be Active Facebook Page.

Active 1:1 Coaching

Also available for all University of Southampton students, we offer Active 1:1 Coaching sessions. These sessions are designed to help train your mindset for a positive and effective outlook, whether that’s physically or mentally. You can book a 1:1 session with one our team members on the UoS Sport app or the Join In online booking system. Sessions must be booked 48 hours in advance, and all students need to have is a minimum of a free Sports Pass to book a slot.
