Event details

The Gravity Group of the University of Southampton, UK, is hosting a NewCompstar Working Group meeting with main topic: "Oscillations and instabilities in neutron stars". The meeting will take place on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th September 2016. This will be of interest to all three NewCompStar working groups. As for similar WG meetings, a limited budget is allocated to support NewCompstar members with the usual COST rules.

Conference dinner

There will be a dinner on the evening of Tuesday 13th September, 19:00, at Trago Lounge, 190/192 Portswood Rd, Southampton, SO17 2LB.  This is a two-minute walk from the Highfield House Hotel. Menus have been sent out by email and are also available below, in Useful Downloads. The email also contains a link to a google doc spreadsheet, where you are kindly asked to record your menu choices.

Travel information

The workshop will be held in the Mathematics Student Centre (building 56) of the Highfield Campus, the main University of Southampton campus. Southampton is conveniently reached from Southampton airport, as well as the London airports (including Heathrow and Gatwick). Detailed travel information and maps are available here. Note that Unilink U1 buses to campus, from both Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway, run about every 7-8 minutes. From Southampton airport or the central train station, a taxi ride should cost around £10.

A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the nearby Highfield House Hotel at the rate of £66/night (approx 85 euro/night). Participants are asked to arrange their accommodation directly with the hotel. Please mention "CompStar Working Group Meeting (care of House Manager Viv Cooper)" when making your reservation. These rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and only through Saturday August 20.
