Title: General Relativistic MagnetoHydroDynamic Simulations of Neutron Star Binaries

Abstract: Binary neutron star (NS) mergers are bright sources of gravitational waves (GWs) and electromagnetic (EM) radiation, including short gamma-ray bursts (SGRBs). The study of their dynamics during and after the merger requires the use of fully general relativistic 3D numerical codes able to handle different aspects of the NS dynamics. In this talk I will review the results of numerical simulations of magnetized binary NS systems performed with my WhiskyMHD code. I will focus in particular on the impact that magnetic fields may have on the GW and EM emission in the merger and post-merger phases. I will also present my new publicly available GRMHD code, named Spritz, that can evolve magnetized binary NS systems including also the effects of temperature and neutrino emission.
