CAS guidance for undergraduate and postgraduate students

How to get a CAS

In order to be eligible for a CAS you must hold an Unconditional Accepted or Unconditional Firm offer on your chosen course of study.

Once you hold an Unconditional Accepted or Unconditional Firm offer you will be sent an email asking you to complete our University CAS Questionnaire.

Once we receive the CAS questionnaire, we aim to process it within 7 working days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays). We will send you your CAS Statement via email, no later than 3 months before your programme start date.

Applying for a visa

Further guidance and information on applying for a visa can be found on the Visa and Immigration Student Advice Service (VISAS Team) webpages. Students should record their CAS number in the visa application form. It is not necessary to submit the CAS Statement email with the visa application. The CAS will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

After You Have Obtained Your Visa

You should bring all relevant original evidence of academic and language qualifications with you on arrival in the UK. You should also bring your passport and visa or biometric visa card, if you have been issued one by the UKVI.

As soon as you arrive in Southampton, you will need to attend a Right to Study check. Information about what you will need to do will be sent to you before you arrive.
