Student Ambassadors for our 2022 Open Days
Open Days are a chance for prospective students and their families to look around the University to help them decide whether they want to join our Southampton community. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic students to assist with several roles.
2022 Open Day dates:
- Saturday 18th June (Winchester School of Art only)
- Sunday 19th June (Winchester School of Art only)
- Saturday 2nd July (Southampton campuses)
- Sunday 3rd July (Southampton campuses)
- Saturday 10th September (Southampton campuses)
- Saturday 8th October (All campuses)
- Sunday 9th October (Southampton campuses)
- Wednesday 26th October (Winchester School of Art only)
- Saturday 19th November (Winchester School of Art only)
You can apply to work as many dates as you wish. Please note the dates on which your campus is hosting an event.
Pay Rate
Under 23 - £9.18 per hour + holiday pay = £10.29 per hour
23 and over - £9.50 per hour + holiday pay = £10.65 per hour
We are recruiting Faculty Student Ambassadors and Central Student Ambassadors. You can record your role preference on your application. More details for each post are below.
Faculty Student Ambassador role:
Ambassadors taking on this role will represent their degree programme and Faculty. They will be ‘hands on’, participating in subject specific activities. Tasks vary and may include:
- welcoming guests to faculty spaces
- directing guests to timetabled activities
- showcasing project work
- assisting in exhibitions
- presenting in programme talks
- delivering facilities tours
- talking with guests and sharing experiences of university
Central Student Ambassador role:
Ambassadors taking on this role will be involved in the logistical side of the event management. They will be responsible for the smooth running of the Open Days. Tasks vary and may include:
- registering guests on their arrival
- directing visitors around our campuses
- delivering campus tours
- showcasing our halls of residence
- demonstrating a proactive attitude to ensure a positive visitor experience
- talking with guests and sharing experiences of university
We aim to allocate your role based on the preference you indicate on your application. However, if positions fill up, we may offer you an alternative role.
Do apply early to avoid disappointment. We will contact successful applicants during the week beginning 9th May to advise on the next steps. This will include details of mandatory training for all ambassadors prior to them working with us.
