When will I get an offer?

After you have submitted your application you will get an email from us to confirm your application.

If the conditions of your offer to study and the terms of the Accommodation Guarantee have both been met, then offers of accommodation will be sent in batches from Monday 19th of August all the way into September.

If you are unsure if you will be guaranteed an offer, please check the terms of our accommodation guarantee.

Contracts explained

All you need to know about the different accommodation contracts the University of Southampton has on offer. Ranging from 36 to 51 weeks, from self-catered to part-catered, we have something for everyone.

Paying your accommodation fees

Your accommodation fees are due in either three or four instalments, depending on the length of your contract. You can view the instalment amounts and due dates on your online accommodation account.

Each instalment will be automatically claimed by recurring card payment (RCP) using the card details you provided when you accepted your offer. Full details can be found in the Acceptance Guide.

If you need to update the card details for your RCP after accepting your offer you can do this by contacting the Student Services Centre.

Getting ready to move

Moving into halls will be an exciting time and there will be lots of things you'll need and want to bring with you. Before you start packing, have a look at what is and isn't provided for you in halls.

What you'll need to bring

Arriving in halls

After receiving and accepting your offer, you'll be sent an email about the e-induction which you must complete before arriving in halls. This is where you will be able to book your arrival slot, and you will be provided with key information on living in Halls of Residence.

Information on what to expect on your arrival and what you need to do can be found here.

Arriving before Welcome Weekend

If you are wanting to arrive before Welcome Weekend you will need to find alternative accommodation before the start date of your accommodation contract. We have a list of guest houses and hotels in Southampton that you may find useful.

Arriving after Welcome Weekend

If you cannot arrive over the Welcome Weekend you can still book an arrival slot in the following week. If you will be arriving in halls after Welcome Weekend please let us know in advance by emailing

Please have a look at the arrivals information on our website as the arrival details are slightly different if you are arriving after Welcome Weekend.
