Aspire Competition and Promotion Terms and Conditions

1. The promoter of this competition is University of Southampton, a company incorporated in England & Wales by Royal Charter (registered number RC000668) whose registered address is at Highfield, Southampton, SO17 1BJ (the University).

2. The University of Southampton’s International Office is inviting international students enrolled in the academic year 2019/20 and in receipt of a scholarship to take part in a blog competition on the theme of ‘My experience as an international scholar at Southampton.’ The competition is free to enter.

3. The competition is open to all international and European Union students who are both enrolled in the academic year 2019/20 and are in receipt of a scholarship.

4. The winner will be asked to present a valid University ID on collection of their prize. Failure to present a valid ID will result in the respective prize being forfeited. In this instance, an alternative winner will be selected.

5. Anyone connected in any way with the creation/implementation of the competition is not permitted to enter.

6. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

7. Entrants must submit a valid application to the Aspire Awards in the 2019/20 academic year.

8. Receipt of a valid Aspire Award 2019/20 application in accordance with the guidelines found at will result in automatic entry to the prize draw.

9. The competition opens on 14th October 2019 and closes on 28th February 2020. Entries received after the closing date/time or with incomplete forms will not be eligible for entry to the competition.

10. The University accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, ineligible, corrupted or fail to be submitted by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid.

11. Retrospective entries will not be allowed.

12. The winner will be selected at random within 1 month of the competition closing.

13. The University reserves the right not to select a winner.

14. The winner of the competition will receive a Dragon Touch Action Camera. Prizes are non-transferrable and no cash alternative will be offered.

15. Any entries deemed inappropriate by members of the judging panel (including but not limited to, the inclusion of profanity) will be deemed invalid.

16. The University’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

17. The winner will be contacted privately via email on 2nd March 2020 to arrange collection of their prizes.

18. The winner must claim their prize within 30 days of notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, they will lapse, and the University reserves the right to offer any unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.

20. By entering this competition each entrant confirms that their submissions are their wholly owned creations and that, to the extent that such entries make use of any third party materials, these have been fully cleared unless they are no longer protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights.

21. By submitting an entry, each entrant grants the University a perpetual, royalty-free, nonexclusive licence to edit, publish, translate, modify, adapt, make available and distribute the entry throughout the world in any media now known or hereafter invented.

22. The University may request the raw footage or original files associated with submissions.

23. To obtain details of the winner, please email stating the name of the competition in the subject heading within 4 weeks of the closing date.

24. You are providing your submission to the University of Southampton and not to any other party.

25. The University reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.

26. These terms and conditions are governed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

27. By entering the competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
