Delay in Statutory Funding

Delay in Statutory Funding
Delay in Statutory Funding

If you have submitted an application to Student Finance/NHS bursary scheme for statutory support with your day to day living costs, but have yet to receive your first payment then we may be able to provide you with short term support to cover basics such as food and incidentals, initially for 2 weeks, but this can be extended until your payment comes through.

If you would like to be considered for support, then please complete, and submit an application. You will need to submit an up to date bank statement covering at least the last 30 days.

You will also need to submit evidence that you have submitted an application to Student Finance/NHS Bursary scheme.

Please be aware that we do not provide support for rent through the Delay in Funding support.

If you are in University Halls then please email ssc@soton.ac.uk to advise them that there is a delay in your funding. You will need to provide them with proof that you have submitted an application to Student Finance/NHS bursary scheme. They can update your account so that you are not chased for tuition /accommodation fees.

If you are in private rented accommodation, then please let your landlord know there may be a delay. If you would like us to provide you with a confirmation letter, then please either email stufunds@soton.ac.uk or book an online appointment with one of our advisors.

If you are yet to submit an application to Student Finance/NHS bursary scheme, or the funding for your day to day living costs is coming from elsewhere or you are seeking more substantial levels of support, then please either email stufunds@soton.ac.uk or book an online appointment with one of our advisors, so we can assess your situation and the best course of action.

If you are provided with Short term support, then please contact Student Finance and/or NHS bursary in this time to try and resolve any funding issues. If you need help with this then please contact the Advice Centre at the details below.

If you have been advised by Student Finance/NHS that it will take longer than four weeks to resolve the issue then please let us know by emailing stufunds@soton.ac.uk

If it is agreed to provide you with support, this will either be in the form of food vouchers or a monetary payment. This would be paid directly into your UK bank account. Please ensure that the university holds your bank details which you can now do online via Self Service on SUSSED. You can access Self Service here. Click on Personal Information and then Update Payment Details. Payments usually reach an account within five working days.

Please be aware that all support is discretionary and cannot be guaranteed.
